Health Union Recognized Among Forbes’ List of Best Startup Employers 2020

PHILADELPHIAMarch 10, 2020 — Health Union is being recognized within Forbes’ inaugural list of America’s Best Startup Employers for 2020. This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., a world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, and recognizes 500 U.S.-based startups that ranked highly for various measures of employer reputation, employee satisfaction and company growth.

Health Union, included in the healthcare industry category, ranked second among companies based in Philadelphia, fifth in Pennsylvania and eighth in the greater Philadelphia area. Health Union, which began as a self-funded startup in a basement, has grown exponentially since the company launched its first site – – in late 2010. Today, Health Union manages 27 condition-specific online ecosystems. The company now occupies four floors of office space in Center City Philadelphia, where more than 170 employees – and growing – work (and play).

To compile the inaugural Best Startup Employers 2020 list, Forbes and Statista Inc. first analyzed more than 10,000 employers based on publicly available data. That larger list was eventually whittled down to 2,500 companies, and in-depth analysis resulted in the final list of 500.

Specifically, to determine companies’ employee satisfaction, extensive research was conducted on average length of employment, employee ratings and quantity of ratings. Employer reputation was determined by algorithmically extracting company-specific information from social media channels and news sites. Company growth metrics came from evaluating website traffic, job openings, headcount information and funding information.
