From the beginning, Health Union’s mission has always been about helping people with chronic conditions live better. People are the most important aspect of building and sustaining our growing portfolio of condition-specific online health communities. To that end, our philosophy of “meeting people where they are” in our online health communities extends to our culture and the surrounding environment.

As we grow, Health Union’s core values are ingrained in everything we do. They are the key principles that guide not only our online health communities, but also our workplace offerings and environment, the widespread altruism of our people, and the local philanthropic and economic needs of Philadelphia.

We elevate and support the development of our people, personally and professionally.  To recognize the hard work and contributions of our team, in addition to offering comprehensive health and welfare benefits and retirement planning, we also offer generous paid time off, summer Fridays, an employee referral bonus, flexible work options, regular company-sponsored lunches and an individual employee budget for professional development.  As a company, we are deeply committed to helping people live better and offer a range of opportunities for people to take care of themselves, including fitness classes at work, an onsite registered dietician, mindfulness classes, and a pet-friendly work environment.

Community

We elevate the efforts of our communities, including the advocates and contributors who work with us daily and who are critical to the success of “meeting people where they are.” As part of the Health Union family, we offer benefits that help educate and support them in their pursuit of “making people feel good.”

The Pillars Ambassador Program is designed to say thanks and recognize the efforts and contributions of the people who deliver connection and validation, every day.  The program includes welcome kits for new members, financial support for conference attendance, a matching gifts program, networking and development opportunities–most notably through the annual Connexion conference.

Health Union also supports the efforts of many non-profit organizations that champion the conditions we serve.  Community teams are encouraged and supported in their desire to take part in walks, benefits and other related fundraising activities throughout the year. Annually, Health Union identifies select fundraising events to sponsor on a corporate level.

Philanthropy and The Local Economy

We are committed to elevating the passions of our people, specifically their interest in philanthropy and the local economy and believe there is a mutually beneficial relationship in supporting both.

We are deeply committed to supporting Philadelphia’s economic growth and stability. Throughout the 22,000 sq. ft. of space we occupy in Center City, you’ll see and experience the work of local artists and craftsmen; at any of our company-sponsored lunches, you’ll taste the food of local restaurateurs. When the opportunity presents itself, we host local creative and tech professional development meetings open to the Philadelphia community.

The philanthropic passions of our people also extend into many other causes. Individual team members commit their time, money and attention to more than 20 non-profit charities and causes, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Philadelphia, City Bright Philadelphia, Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to name a few.  We also offer matching gifts and paid time off for community service hours.

Health Union Community Sponsored Events

As part of Health Union’s corporate social responsibility program, the company supports and encourages employees to participate in philanthropic events that range from Thanksgiving food drives for Philabundance to running races that support our condition-specific communities. This commitment reminds us that our efforts are designed to benefit our people and our business–as we grow responsibly, together.
